Khiva - Desert Fortresses
start at 09.00
Transfer by comfortable car
Transfer through the Kyzylkum desert (150 km, 1.5-2 hours) and visit to the archaeological sites of Ancient Khorezm: you will visit Kyzyl-Kala - a unique monument of the architecture of Ancient Khorezm of the Kushan-Afrigid period of ancient history and the settlement of Toprak-Kala, which in the 3rd century was the capital of Khorezm. It is not for nothing that Toprak-Kala is called the "museum of fine arts of Ancient Khorezm". This is the only fully excavated monument of the architecture of Khorezm. Its size and the genius of the architectural design make Toprak-Kala one of the most unique monuments of Khorezm. There is a legend that Toprak-Kala and Kyzyl-Kala are connected by an ancient underground passage. This is quite possible, since Kyzyl-Kala performed protective functions. Then the excursion will continue in one of the largest fortresses of Ancient Khorezm - Ayaz-Kala, which dates back to the 2nd century AD - the heyday of the Kushan Empire. Ayaz-Kala was not a city or a settlement, but a fortress complex, where almost 19 centuries ago the border detachments of the ancient Kushan dynasty were located.
